Ben Astle didn't set out to become an auto locksmith. For years he worked in the building trade across Staffordshire — physical, hands-on work that he was good at and enjoyed, right up until a slipped disc made that kind of labour impossible to continue.
Rather than step away from hands-on trade work altogether, Ben retrained in automotive locksmithing and key programming — a field that still demanded precision and problem-solving, but without the physical toll of building work. He started AutoVault from nothing, with no franchise backing and no existing client base, and built it into a trusted local service one job at a time.

Jaguar XF 2014 — Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent
After the customer disconnected the battery, the Jaguar's BCM and BCMB modules became corrupted. Ben soldered directly onto the modules to repair the EEPROM data, then used JLR SDD to relearn and configure the vehicle — all completed at the customer's location in Kidsgrove, without a tow truck or dealer booking.
